Trip Informations
Embark on an action-packed, teen-friendly adventure in south east Africa. On this 10-day trip, you’ll witness the thundering spectacle of Victoria Falls, say hello to some new friends at the Khama Rhino Sanctuary, explore the Okavango Delta in a traditional canoe and watch elephants drinking from the Chobe River. Pack plenty of spare camera batteries, because this trip is one for the photo album – brimming with wildlife encounters and set against the rich landscapes of the Okavango Delta and the Marakele and Chobe National Parks, this is a safari you and the kids won’t soon forget!
Why you’ll love this trip
Experience the grandeur of Victoria Falls – one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World – when you kick off your adventure at this thundering waterfall that's more than 1700 m wide.
Go wildlife-spotting along the river at Chobe National Park, home to the world's highest concentration of African elephants.
Wake up to the sight of elephants outside your window at your unique accommodation at Elephant Sands Lodge in Nata. Greet elephants as they come to drink from the waterhole just metres from your door!
Get familiar with the art of 'poling' as you and your family ride a traditional dugout canoe through the waterways of the Okavango Delta.
Support local conservation by visiting the Khama Rhino Sanctuary, the only place left in Botswana where both black and white rhinos reside.
Is this trip right for you?
This is an overland trip. That means you’ll be travelling with a group in a purpose-built vehicle and setting up your own tent. While the trucks don’t have air conditioning, they do have sliding windows which let in the breeze and make it even easier to take spectacular snaps of the local wildlife. There will be some early starts and long travel days. It's as much about the journey as the destination, and half the fun is the camaraderie. For more info on this style of travel, see our Africa overland page: https://www.tuuur.com/au/africa/overland . https://www.tuuur.com/au/africa/overland (https://www.tuuur.com/au/africa/overland)
Camping out in the Okavango wilderness means digging a bush toilet and going without a shower. For most travellers, this is a small price to pay for such a gorgeous, remote location. It’s all part of the adventure.
Travel can be slow over the long distances and often bumpy roads. A little bit of patience will go a long way towards your enjoyment of this beautiful land.
This is a participatory camping trip, so team spirit is key. You and your family will be helping out with camp setup, food preparation and cleaning.

An amazing adventure for the whole family! The Okavango Delta was a real highlight - the tranquility of travelling by mokoro, the sound of hippos In the night and the sky full of stars. Our guide, cook and driver were fabulous.

My son (13) and I enjoyed our experience. A great way to travel with teens. The animals were incredible and the camps were not as rustic as described.

A fantastic trip which we really enjoyed as a family and made some new friends along the way. Saw the most amazing wildlife and beautiful landscapes, and had some fantastic experiences including attempting to steer a mocoro boat on the Okavango Delta. The guide leader, Dumi, driver, Irvine, and cook, Ora, were the best and made sure we had an incredible time. Beautiful Africa!
