Is this trip right for you?

This is an overland trip. That means you’ll be travelling with a group in a purpose-built vehicle and setting up your own tent. While the trucks don’t have air conditioning, they do have sliding windows which let in the breeze and make it even easier to take spectacular snaps of the local wildlife. There will be some early starts and long travel days. It's as much about the journey as the destination, and half the fun is the camaraderie. For more info on this style of travel, see our Africa overland page: https://www.tuuur.com/au/africa/overland . https://www.tuuur.com/au/africa/overland (https://www.tuuur.com/au/africa/overland)

Camping out in the Okavango wilderness means digging a bush toilet and going without a shower. For most travellers, this is a small price to pay for such a gorgeous, remote location. It’s all part of the adventure.
verified
Travel can be slow over the long distances and often bumpy roads. A little bit of patience will go a long way towards your enjoyment of this beautiful land.
verified
This is a participatory camping trip, so team spirit is key. You and your family will be helping out with camp setup, food preparation and cleaning.

Very happy with the Botswana family safari offered by Intrepid. 10 days in a tent was challenging for our 3 teenage children as we expected (and hoped), but we could not have been happier with the experience. Would definitely recommend.

This trip was a fantastic adventure that the whole family will cherish. Seeing the Big 5 in the wild delivered unforgettable moments. In addition to the wildlife the crew were magnificent, especially the cook with each meal being a camp cooking masterpiece.

My 14 yo daughter and I really enjoyed this trip. We were very well looked after throughout and had so many great experiences on this camping trip from Zimbabwe through Botswana to South Africa. Lots of game drives and animals, great company, and wonderful memories! We will be doing another intrepid tour soon.

If you are on the fence with this tour - take a leap and do it. We had an incredible time as a family, and it provided us with some great bonding experiences. As always - Intrepid ran a safe, fun and well planned tour, with in depth experiences by local providers so you really feel like you are immersed in Africa. Our tour team were all professional and amazing, providing local knowledge, enthusiasm and laughs at every moment. Our best holiday yet!

It was an amazing experience - from Somkhele’s delicious dishes, to Fitz’s safe driving and Lekau’s humble heart and guiding. We saw many heartily and beautiful animals and although we didn’t see a lion in the end, it was still a great experience. One thing that didn’t stand out to me was how grubby I was and how smelly the bushy bushy was. Although it wasn’t Intrilids fault, it did affect the expierence. Also one shout out to one of the polars / Julis (might not be spelt right) he made the delta creek every fun and taught me and my friends how to do westerly necklaces, hats and bracelets. Thank you.

This trip was extremely good because of all the wildlife and new plants we saw. Our leader was very good at explaining everything, our cook was very inventive with his menu choices and catered to every age bracket on the tour, and lastly our driver was extra careful on the sometime difficult landscape.

The intrepid tour throughout Africa was a blast. Although I was sort of new to the long camping experience and the delta lifestyle like many others this trip changed my perspective of things and really helped me make new memories and find life long friends
