06. Borneo is a tropical country so rain can be expected at any time. The wet period in Borneo runs from November to February. Temperatures remain fairly constant year round with averages of 27-32°C/80-89°F and relative humidity of around 80%. Consider bringing a portable small neck fan with you to keep you and your family cool.
verified
November to February is monsoon season for Selingan (Turtle Island) so if travelling during this time you should expect big waves and choppy seas. In cases of extreme weather, the trip to Selingan may be cancelled and alternative arrangements made.
verified
07. Many hotels outside of the big cities of Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan have been built so travellers can enjoy the countryside, forest/mountain views, where people can wake up to nature sounds not cars. Many of the hotels we use are in such locations and can be quite remote. So access to restaurants are limited.
verified
08. Borneo’s food is known for being fairly mild, with high reliance on fresh fruit and vegetables.
verified
The cuisine is a mix of Thai, Malay and Indian. Cuisine staples include grilled fish, barbecued prawns, fried rice, noodles, and local vegetables seasoned with garlic, ginger, and rich sauces. Fish and chicken based soups with noodles cooked in a hot clay pot are very traditional.

This trip was one of those lifetime memory trips. The wildlife and natural wonders were breathtaking. Cruising up the river to stay in the jungle, seeing wild elephants, staying on Turtle Island for the hatchlings, seeing the Orangutans...every day was filled with fun activities for all of the family. We were always on the move, but there were also some moments for relaxing... the pace was great for a family. Nelson our tour leader was a brilliant guide, and the whole group enjoyed his daily briefings & dinner selections!
We had a 10 + 14 y old on the trip and they both loved it... probably more than they expected ;)
Highly recommended.

A truly fabulous trip. Borneo is an amazing country. This trip was a lot of fun with an excellent itinerary. My 13yo son and I loved the jungle stay - simple accomodation but the wildlife from frogs and scorpions to proboscis monkeys and hornbills was phenomenal. We also loved turtle island be it snorkeling or watching the turtle laying eggs. Our guide Hirzan was brilliant - caring, organized, funny and super knowledgeable. A trip to remember.

We had the best time on our family trip through Borneo with Aldrin - our fantastic guide. It was an adventure which pushed us all out of our comfort zones but was absolutely a trip of a lifetime. Sabah is amazing and the tour allowed us to see some real highlights. Thank you!
