Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Explore one of the world’s highest cities, La Paz! Take an urban cable car for epic valley views, shop for potions in the Witches Market or hunt for the best choripan (Bolivian hot dog).
Buckle up for a 4WD adventure through the Andean Desert. Barren, haunting and spectacular, the laws of earthly physics seem to bend on the surreal Salar de Uyuni salt flats.
Choose to visit the otherworldly landscape of Valle de la Luna – a maze of canyons and colossal clay spires that makes you feel you’re walking on the moon.
Get close to 68-million-year-old dinosaur footprints and visit grand mansions in the historic capital of Sucre.
Learn about Bolivia’s past as you explore the narrow streets and Spanish architecture of Potosi, which was once one of the wealthiest cities in the world.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip visits places at high altitude, and some people can suffer from altitude sickness, regardless of age or physical health. Please see the medical and health information section of the Essential Trip Information for more details.
You'll spend a lot of time in a 4WD which is likely to have all seats occupied while crossing some bumpy surfaces. This is the best way to see the sights in and around Uyuni and is all part of the adventure.
For the 4WD excursion to Salar de Uyuniyou may share with people outside your group depending on your group composition.
In Bolivia (especially in Uyuni), things don't always go to plan. An attraction may be closed for the day without notice or reason. Although this doesn't happen very often, please be prepared for the possibility.
Making your way across the Andean Desert and salt flats isn’t exactly luxurious. Temperatures in the area can be very cold, especially at night, so bring warm clothes. Meals are simple, toilet facilities are basic, showers can be cold, and the multishare accommodation is dormitory style. This is all part of the adventure. Without a doubt, this amazing experience will be one of the highlights of your trip.

Bolivia was an absolute surprise and hidden gem in the most positive way. Had did it was part of a broader Peru trip and attracted by the salt plains, but saw so much more in the desert. Absolutely incredible and not as well known. Will be spreading the word! Doing through Intrepid made all the planning so easy. Loved it

A truly beautiful country and a trip that wildly exceeded my expectations. A well planned out itinerary, with lots included. Some of my highlights were the drives through the salt flats and past volcanoes which felt like I was on another planet and seeing the dinosaur footprints! A relatively short trip but I felt like I had been travelling for a month by the end of it. We saw so much and did so much in a short period of time. Bolivians are warm and lovely people - also the food for veggies was rather good (not what I had been expecting). BOOK IT!

Wonderful leader, trip corresponds to the description. If you are vegetarian, I recommend bringing snacks containing proteins, especially for the Salar de uyuni part, but overall the trip was well worth it!

Bolivia Highlights was a fantastic tour, with Julia being an amazing guide! The highlight was definitely the days on the Salt Flats and desert, but La Paz and Sucre were also fantastic. Highly recommend this tour.

This is a wonderful trip with a great balance of nature, history and culture. I knew very little about Bolivia at the beginning but learnt a great deal about the country and its environment over the 10 days. The itinerary is intense but worth it to see so much.

Our guide, Henry was the greatest guide you could have ever asked for. Having Henry as a guide alone is reason enough to book intrepid.
