verified
This trip visits places at high altitude, and some people can suffer from altitude sickness, regardless of age or physical health. Please see the medical and health information section of the Essential Trip Information for more details.

You'll spend a lot of time in a 4WD which is likely to have all seats occupied while crossing some bumpy surfaces. This is the best way to see the sights in and around Uyuni and is all part of the adventure.
verified
The excursion to Salar de Uyuni is on a shared basis and your group size may be larger than 12 travellers.
verified
In Bolivia (especially in Uyuni), things don't always go to plan. An attraction may be closed for the day without notice or reason. Although this doesn't happen very often, please be prepared for the possibility.
verified
Making your way across the Andean Desert and salt flats isn’t exactly luxurious. Temperatures in the area can be very cold, especially at night, so bring warm clothes. Meals are simple, toilet facilities are basic, showers can be cold, and the multishare accommodation is dormitory style. This is all part of the adventure. Without a doubt, this amazing experience will be one of the highlights of your trip.

Bolivia must be one of the most unspoilt places to visit. We had a wonderful adventure experiencing such diversity including the salt flats, silver mines, lunar landscapes, historical cities. The people are very welcoming and friendly and the food is amazing from local cuisine to international fare and quaint coffee shops.

Bolivia completely surprised me—in the best possible way! I knew that the country was diverse, but I hadn't expected such incredible biodiversity and scenic beauty.
From surreal salt flats to dense rainforest to impressive Andean landscapes—it was truly an adventure. Bolivia also has a lot to offer culturally, and the people were warm and hospitable everywhere I went.
It was a trip I will definitely never forget – and one I can recommend to anyone who wants to experience true nature, adventure, and special experiences. The trip with Intrepid was unforgettable—full of breathtaking adventures and excellently organized. I was particularly impressed by the great care taken to protect the environment and the strong focus on sustainability. But the best thing was the support from the local population, which was evident in every aspect of the trip.

Intrepid tours are wonderful. They keep you engaged and encourage cohesion within the group. They don't nickel and dime you with overpriced, optional activities.

Bolivia is truly the heart of South America, explored with the help of excellent leaders (Karina specifically) and all the drivers, cooks and hosts along the way. It's a harsh landscape but one that everyone should experience to appreciate!

A superb insight into Bolivia, felt like we travelled through several countries as we saw so many different environments and sights. The Uyuni salt desert is phenomenal and worth the trip for that alone. Although there is a lot of travelling, it is staggered with regular sight seeing stops, plus the views whilst driving help pass the time.
Bolivia is currently experiencing a lot of roadblocks/political protests, however our leader Wendy ensured she did everything within her power to keep the itinerary as close as planned.
Wendy was the best tour guide you could ask for and is a real credit to Intrepid and Bolivia.

Bolivia is a fascinating destination. The trip delivered pretty much as described in its itinerary. The day of blockading Sucre meant the dinosaur footsteps could not be seen but our exceptional, resourceful, caring guide suggested other options and everyone enjoyed a full and interesting day.
