Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Trek through the dramatic red dunes of the Sahara Desert on a camel’s back, experiencing an unforgettable sunset – then stay under a blanket of North African stars in a desert camp.
Embrace the Atlantic breeze in the coastal town of Tangier and see the vivid blue hues of Chefchaouen over sunset, while you explore the houses and laneways of this surreal city.
Stay in a traditional Amazigh homestay high in the Atlas Mountains and enjoy a homecooked meal of Moroccan favourites, learning about the culture and traditions of an Indigenous population who’ve stood the test of time.
Kick back in the coastal town of Essaouira and discover the winding laneways at your own pace. Then, meet a local fisherman by the seaside and learn about his life and this traditional practice.
Explore the old medina of Marrakech and the labyrinthine medina of bustling Fes with knowledgable local guides, discovering the myriad of sights, smells and sounds along zigzagging lanes. Then, discover the colourful chaos of Djemaa el-Fna.
Is this trip right for you?
Don’t let the heat keep you from exploring the world! Summer temperatures can be extremely high in Morocco (over 40°C), which can make things uncomfortable. It’s essential to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat, and drink plenty of water.
Ramadan is an annual month-long festival, during which travel can be a rewarding cultural experience, however some regular services may not be available during the day, such as restaurants or cafes, and occasionally travel can be disrupted by events. Your leader will adjust the itinerary accordingly, but please consider this when selecting your travel dates. You’ll find dates and further information in the ‘Climate and seasonal information’ section of the Essential Trip Information.
There are a couple of long travel days on this trip, particularly the day travelling to the Sahara Desert. Rest stops will be made on the way and you’ll be rewarded with great views on the drive itself.
Itinerary
All the best bits of Morocco, from colourful cities and medinas to the mountains and the desert
If you’re looking for a two-week adventure full of Morocco’s highlights, this trip is for you! From sacred sites and bustling medinas to the expanse of the Sahara, you’ll be hitting all the popular hotspots and stopping for air in some of the country’s best scenery. Wander in the lanes of the blue city Chefchaouen, explore the Roman ruins of Volubilis and find the cultural heart of Morocco in Fes. Drive through everchanging scenery (look out for Barbary apes and nomadic shepherds along the way), ride a camel towards a desert sunset, hike through lush palm groves in Todra Valley, discover popular filming locations in World Heritage-listed Ait Benhaddou, kick back and unwind in seaside Essaouira and top it all off with the street food bazaars and performers in Djemaa el-Fna in Marrakech.

We had an amazing experience with intrepid doing the Best of Morocco , we travelled around the country seeing so much of the vast landscape that Morocco has to offer, from cities to small towns and being in ankle deep snowy mountains ( a first experience for myself) to warm sunny beach side cities , engaging with locals and learning through experiences about their culture , enjoying the most diverse food and practising the mint tea pour and learning the language as we went. Morocco is a beautiful country with very kind warm people, I’d highly recommend to anyone and to try see as much of the county possible .

The best way to see Morocco, covering all the main sights and experiences. I joined the tour solo, but left with friends. Mohammed was a phenomenal tour guide. Highly recommend!

Amazing snapshot of incredible Morocco. Eating our way around Morocco with their delicious tagines and Friday couscous, the landscapes we saw and markets galore were incredible. Thanks, Intrepid for a wonderful immersion into the Moroccan culture. What a diverse place.

Magical, memorable and meaningful from beginning to end. From hiking in snowy mountains to Sahara sunset, blue walls to crashing surfs, and always the warm welcome of piping hot mint tea. A thoughtful itinerary to experience a beautiful country and culture.

1. Intrepid’s introduction to Morocco will Leave you spellbound in terms of diverse landscapes covered. 2. There were 2 packages available - Best of Moroand Premium Morocco . I was told that this trip was synonymous with both offers. This isn’t accurate as some hotels were more rustic or poorly maintained than others. This aspect was most misleading and I wish the booking agent could be clearer in clarifying given the expectations some terms can impose on customers. ‘Best’ vs ‘ Premium’ conjure different meanings and this has to be sorted out by Intrepid please.

The best guided tour I’ve ever been on, Morocco was such an interesting and exotic country, full of history, spices and colour. Intrepid’s itinerary was comprehensive and covered everything we needed to see, with an outstanding guide. I felt safe the whole time and have new respect for the country, people and culture. Highly recommended.
