Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Let a local expert bring Cambodia’s ancient history to life as you temple-hop at the Angkor complex – one of South East Asia's most stunning attractions and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Learn the confronting yet important history of Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21) and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek in Phnom Penh.
Spend an unforgettable night on a boat in Ha Long Bay – one of Vietnam’s most remarkable natural wonders and a UNESCO World Heritage site. After, visit a centre dedicated to turning the bay’s discarded trash into beautiful, handcrafted items.
Sample local food wherever you go – from a seafood dinner on Ha Long Bay, a meal at a Buddhist monastery, coconut candy in the Mekong Delta and dinner at KOTO restaurant, you won’t go hungry!
Visit some of the must-see sights with your small group on walking tours in Hoi An and the Temple of Literature in Hanoi, as well as plenty of free time to make your own local discoveries.
Is this trip right for you?
You’ll cover a lot of distance on this trip, including on overnight trains. For more about what this experience is like, see our blog post here: https://www.tuuur.com/adventures/what-to-expect-on-an-overnight https://www.tuuur.com/adventures/what-to-expect-on-an-overnight (https://www.tuuur.com/adventures/what-to-expect-on-an-overnight)
There are also some long travel days by both private and public transport (up to 10 hours on the road), including the day that we cross from Thailand to Cambodia. Your leader and local guides will assist with the border crossings, but plenty of patience is advised
Don’t let the heat keep you from exploring the world! Summer temperatures can be very high in South East Asia, which can make things uncomfortable. Depending on where you come from, the weather in Vietnam and Cambodia might be hotter and more humid than what you are used to. We recommend checking online for what the typical temperatures will be at the time you're looking to travel. It’s important to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat, and drink plenty of water.
If you would prefer a similar itinerary in the reverse direction and with only hotel accommodation, why not check out our Best of Vietnam & Cambodia trip – see trip code ‘TVSKC’ on the Tuuur website for more information.
You will visit a number of temples on this trip, and this requires a level of modesty. Be sure to bring clothes that cover the arms and pants or skirts that go past the knees. A light scarf is also a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot.

"My journey through Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam has been nothing short of extraordinary. Each country unfolded like a captivating storybook, with its own unique charm and lessons to share. From the bustling streets of Bangkok to the serene temples of Angkor Wat and the enchanting landscapes of Halong Bay, the diversity of this adventure left me in awe. Every moment was a sensory feast-indulging in mouthwatering local cuisines, navigating dynamic modes of transport, and immersing myself in the rich tapestry of each nation's history and culture. Every excursion and experience felt like a new chapter in this unforgettable adventure, delivering more than I could have ever dreamed of. This journey was truly the perfect blend of exploration, education, and exhilaration."

This trip, defined as exploratory was indeed exploratory. Doing both countries, Cambodia and Vietnam, helped to highlight the similarities of the two countries and to demonstrate the contrasts. The local guides were excellent and contributed to me gaining a better understanding of the two countries. I appreciated the various activities scheduled and the flexibility to have open and free time. Overall a well designed and delivered trip. Thank you!

Trip was great. The transfer cost from Hanoi city to airport was for 39 dollars overpriced . At the hotel it was 12 dollars. Was not happy with that. My ride from the airport was probably too much as well at 33 dollars

Wow what a trip. It is a lot of travel at quite a fast pace but that makes you see more. Motorcycle, cycling, boat, train, tuk tuk and cyclo are some of the modes of transport. Food culture scenery and friendship are just some of the good aspects. Do it and be amazed.

An excellent way for the single traveler to enjoy the benefits of group travel without breaking the bank. I was very pleased with the cost of the single supplement and enjoyed the trip. There were a number of other single travelers on the trip and it was a terrific way to be introduced to a part of the world I would not have traveled to alone (at least for the first time).
