Trip Informations
Where did The Beatles, Harry Potter, Peter Rabbit and Doctor Who originate? The UK of course! This 12-day trip will take you to the best of Britain, through the rolling hills, mountainous landscapes and medieval cities of England, Scotland and Wales. Take a punt through Oxford, explore the beauty of the Cotswolds, walk Cardiff and discover filming locations from Doctor Who, stroll through the majestic beauty of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, be inspired by The Beatles’ past in Liverpool and hike the stunning Lake District National Park. End it all in picturesque Edinburgh – JK Rowling’s favourite writing location.
Why you’ll love this trip
Take part in punting – a timeless, quintessentially Oxford pastime that will see you floating along the idyllic waters of this university city, seeing beautiful architecture and gardens from the perspective of a punt (boat).
Spend a day exploring arguably the most beautiful and most British countryside – the Cotswolds. Explore the villages, walk through endless fields and taste some of the best local ales.
Go on walking tours of Cardiff and Liverpool with your knowledgeable local leader – the best way to discover these cities! See the pubs frequented by The Beatles early in their career.
Walk the famous Lon Gwyrfai path in Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) and explore the rolling hills, woodlands and picturesque villages. Then, travel to the mountainous landscape of Lake District National Park, taking a relaxing walk along Lake Windermere.
Explore the winding streets of Edinburgh’s Old Town with Edinburgh Castle overlooking your every step, then take a walking tour of the New Town – the birthplace of Harry Potter.
Is this trip right for you?
Please keep your luggage as small and light as possible. You'll be travelling on public transport where storage space is limited. You'll need to be able to lift your luggage into storage racks, walk across cobblestone streets with it and carry it up and down stairs.
Not all hotels have air conditioning in the UK but fans are usually available.

An excellent introduction to the UK led by the lovely tour guide Steph! A lot of activities and places are packed into the 12 days, but there is ample free time to pick your own adventure or relax. Steph was fantastic in looking after our group, managing transport, suggesting delicious restaurants and activities for our free time, and always down for a chat! Thank you Steph!

Had a great time with Intrepid, Jess the tour leader was amazing and fun. We learnt heaps about the places we visited and were given many extra options of places to visit if we so wished. Accommodation was above average and transfers were well planned. Overall a fantastic experience that I hope to repeat in the near future.

Highly recommend this UK tour! Skye was a lovely, well organised tour leader, who looked after our group well and took the stress out of making all the travel connections. Everyday there were many highlights and options for special tours. The visit to the Beatles ‘Cavern’ took us back in time and the optional trip to the Yorkshire Moors took us right onto the film set of James Herriot. Highly recommend!

The Best of Britain Tour was an incredible experience that formed many memorable moments for my family and I. Our guide, Wills, was extremely organised, knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic for the entire trip, which greatly enhanced our experience. The mix of traveling in a group environment, as well as being given time to yourself to explore was perfect for my family. The range of activities and sites visited was absolutely fantastic, not to mention the insightful historical knowledge that was provided at each location. This is a trip that we cannot stop talking about weeks after it has ended! Perfect for individuals of all ages.

This trip was a general introduction to the UK - one that I needed and loved, as now I have an understanding of what I do and don't want to seek out next time. Oxford, Chester, Eryri national park, Windermere - all so beautiful, unique, and absolutely worth visiting again. And be prepared to have a very engaging guide who is not afraid to experience new things with you!

We love traveling with Intrepid. The itineraries are fairly open allowing you time to relax or see other sights making your vacation truly YOUR vacation. We love the small group concept which allows you to know your fellow travelers and keeps the group from being too large to enjoy.

The perfect way to experience and enjoy what the UK has to offer in a short time. The structured days teach you about the location and its history, and then the free days leave you to choose what you want to see more of!
