Why you’ll love this trip
Buenos Aires offers an eclectic mix of European, Cosmopolitan and Latin flavours, as well as a booming cultural and nightlife scene. Explore the neighbourhoods of this lively, confident city on a full-day tour with a local guide.
Look for rainbows in the mist from both the Brazilian and Argentinian sides as you marvel at the power of Iguazu Falls which are higher than Niagara Falls and wider than Victoria Falls.
Visit a local Guarani community to meet some of the region’s few remaining indigenous people and learn how the falls were created when the serpent god M’Boy split the river in half.
Gaze over the dazzling city, mountains and bay of Rio de Janeiro from the foot of the famous Christ the Redeemer statue and immerse yourself in Brazilian culture, dance and music.
Get hands on making empanadas or pizzas for lunch, followed by the quintessential Argentinian sweet treat – alfajores.
Is this trip right for you?
There are several orientation walks and city tours during this trip so there will be quite a lot of walking. It’s important to always bring plenty of water, wear comfortable walking shoes and ensure you use adequate sun protection.

This is a great trip if you have limited time to spend in South America! A great mix of city in both Buenos Aires and Rio, with the beauty of Foz de Iguazu in the middle of the trip.

This trip through Argentina and Brazil was truly unforgettable. It was our first Intrepid tour, and it definitely won’t be our last. Our guide, Andrés, made a world of difference—he went above and beyond to care for the group, and his passion, knowledge, and warmth elevated the entire experience. The local guides, especially Mariana in Buenos Aires, brought each destination to life with genuine enthusiasm and answered every question with care. The itinerary mostly focused on well-known, tourist-friendly spots, which were still a lot of fun and gave us a great introduction to each place. For those looking for more local, authentic experiences, some of the optional activities offered that deeper cultural connection and were well worth doing. The accommodations were clean, well-located, and had great amenities, making travel smooth and comfortable. Our group was full of kind, easygoing people, which made the journey even more special. While most logistics were seamless, it would be helpful if weather-dependent activities (like the Guaraní village visit) were noted in advance, and we were a bit disappointed our confirmed airport pickup didn’t happen due to late booking.

Our highlights of Brazil and Argentina was fabulous and a great reminder of how amazing the world outside our home countries can be. Our guide Pedro was very kind, attentive, knowledgeable and a great listener despite us not speaking his native tongue.

My trip with Intrepid was the best. The hotels were luxurious, centrally located, the group small enough to be able to make friends quickly, and our tour leader, Roberto was the most helpful, caring and knowledgeable guide we could have.

Just returned from Intrepid Tour of Argentina and Brazil. Excellent tour. Would highly recommend. Went to all the places on my bucket list. Excellent tour leader. We were lucky with the weather and it only rained once for about an hour! Good transfers, hotels and flights etc.
