Why you’ll love this trip
verified
Begin your adventure in Berlin – an exciting city with a complex history. In your own time, see the remaining fragments of the infamous wall that once divided the city, but now unites it with murals and memorials.
verified
Take in some of Germany’s best views from the heights of Bastei – a towering sandstone formation home to a medieval castle.
verified
Immerse yourself in the bohemian vibes of the Czech Republic, soak up the smooth sounds of jazz at a low-lit bar in Prague and sample locally made pilsners.
verified
With plenty of free time in vibrant Budapest at the end of your trip, whether you end up taking a slow cruise down the Danube or downing a couple of local brews in a ruin bar is totally up to you!

Is this trip right for you?
verified
This itinerary has a mix of included activities and free time when your leader will offer suggestions. Please budget spending money for optional activities you want to take part in.
verified
A short 4 km hike is included on this trip. You'll need a moderate level of fitness and suitable footwear and clothing. If hiking isn’t your thing, you'll have the option to explore Dresden or Rathen instead.
verified
Accommodation on this trip is basic. Hotels in Europe often don't have double beds, but rather two single beds that can be pushed together/apart. Rooms can be small and in some cases, bathroom facilities will be shared.
verified
Summer temperatures can be very high in many of the regions visited (over 40°C), which can be uncomfortable. It’s important to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat and drink plenty of water. Please remember that many European hotel rooms are not equipped with air-conditioning. In Winter, warm layers will be needed as snow can be expected in some regions. Carefully consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability for that season.
verified
The primary means of transportation on this trip is by train. Train travel is a fast way to traverse long distances, allowing you to avoid traffic jams and arrive right into the city centre. Trains are comfortable and often decked out with air-conditioning, toilets, a snack bar (or vending machine) and power points. You'll have to carry your own luggage on and off the train, as well as some short distances to the hotel (no longer than 30 minutes), so make sure it doesn’t exceed our weight and size recommendations. You can find details in the 'What to Take' section of the Essential Trip Information.

This tour is a quick taster of 4 cities but you get to experience public transport and basic accommodation without the hassle of having to organise yourself. It also allows you the independence to do and see what you want. Peter, our tour leader, was informative in orientations and made the travel logistics seem effortless - Thanks!

Fantastic trip! Met incredible other tourists from around the world, learned lots about the places we stayed in, and I felt safe being in the group setting knowing I had a leader who could help if needed as I ventured off to do my own thing. Highly recommend!

So glad we did the Berlin to Budapest tour. Monica was a great guide and gave an interesting and concise history of areas we visited. It was a good opportunity to see how tours work as we have never done any before. The group was small (15) which we found good. The itinerary was carried out smoothly.

I feel strongly that you need to have a plan in place to protect travelers/guests from those that get sick. We need to learn from covid and once it is identified someone has a cough or flu they need to isolate away from the group. I well now but it took time to recover due to the strenuous travel days

I loved this trip so much. Agata was the best tour leader and she was super caring, knowledgeable, funny, and enthusiastic about the trip. Each of the cities we visited was incredible. Accommodations were in central locations and it was easy to get around the cities with public transport. Definitely spend a few more days in Berlin and Budapest if possible. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this trip.

Great way to tour Eastern European countries. Lots of flexibility to do your own thing with all the logistics taken care of. Recommend backpack as lots of stairs. Accommodations were basic but location good ie easy access to public transportation
