Scandinavia can be an expensive destination in many ways, from museum entrance fees to optional activities, but especially in terms of eating out. Your leader will be able to advise on how to have the best value holiday in Scandinavia.
verified
Space is at a premium in Europe and your hotel is no exception. Rooms are often small, but usually the central location makes up for that. For those travelling as a duo, hotels often don't have double beds, but rather two single beds that can be pushed together. Occasionally bathrooms will be shared with other guests.
verified
Many hotel rooms in Europe are not equipped with air-conditioning. Please carefully consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability to that season.
verified
This trip is designed to give you a fair amount of free time so you can explore each destination at your own pace. We will, however, take you on regular orientation walks, so you'll be on your feet quite a lot. While this may be tiring for some, it’s the best way to get your head around a place and to set yourself up for further discoveries.
verified
We recommend packing light and smart for this trip as you'll be required to carry your own luggage between train stations, ferry ports and hotels, which can include going up and down multiple flights of stairs, and across cobblestones. Train stations often don’t have lifts available.
verified
Make sure to check the weather for the time of year you wish to visit, as it can vary significantly depending on season.
verified
There are a few long days of travel by public transport (up to 7 hours), as you'll be covering a lot of ground. Please read the Itinerary carefully for travel time estimates.
verified
If you have more time to explore the region you can extend your trip by starting your travels in either Copenhagen or Oslo. Check out our trips 'Scandinavia & Baltic Circuit' and 'Oslo to Vilnius'.

This tour is a fantastic introduction to the Baltic countries. We had a fantastic Tour Leader, Jelizaveta, whose humour & enthusiasm really made this a memorable trip. The tour in Estonia & Latvia are mainly based around the capitals but you see a bit more of Lithuania. Having said that, for the length of the tour, it has a good balance of city sightseeing/outdoor activities as well as individual/group time. Good use of public transport to keep the prices down & travel a little bit more responsibly. The homestay part was one of the best I've been on with fantastic food in a beautiful location. A brilliant Tour 'Leader' & a fantastic group made this one of the best Intrepid Tours I've been on!!

This is a fantastic trip with a good balance of historic cities and chances to experience the countryside. The homestay in Lithuania is a highlight. Definitely book a few days extra at either end of the trip to make the most of Helsinki and Vilnius also.

I would highly recommend this tour, it provides a fantastic overview of the Baltics with a balance of planned activities and free time to explore. The homestay was absolutely fantastic: accommodation was superb, the food was so delicious and the family so friendly. My highlights were the Curonian Spitband national Park in Lithuania. We had a fantastic tour guide Nojus who was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about history of the Baltics and travel overall. A 5* trip.

Noah did a great job showing us the Baltic States. He was well informed, had a very cheery positive attitude and ensured that our travel from each location to the next was smooth and trouble free. He also provided a great introduction to each new city and gave recommendations for places to eat and attractions to see. A ver well run and enjoyable trip.

This was a fantastic little trip through some of the lesser known countries in Europe. Our guide, Dora was phenomenal and made sure we knew everything there was to know about the Baltics!

This is our 4th Intrepid tour and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
We usually travel independently and this tour was part of a 10 week trip. It was wonderful to be organised and not be captain of the ship . Our tour guide Alex took care of all the arrangements and we just enjoyed ourselves .
The homestay in a local guest house , hiking bike riding and kayaking ( all optional but included) were highlights
That would have been difficult to organise ourselves . It was also enjoyable to travel with other like minded travellers .
