Why you’ll love this trip
Discover the highlights of Buenos Aires, Argentina's sizzling capital, on a walking tour. Pass the stunning Colon Theatre, the star-studded Recoleta cemetery and hidden milongas (tango halls).
Explore the swamps and lagoons of Argentina's Ibera Wetlands – the second largest wetlands in the world – in search of anacondas, otters, howler monkeys and over 350 species of colourful birds.
Feast on a classic asado (barbecue) lunch in the Ibera Wetlands – and maybe have a go at kneading some dough to bake Argentinian bread – before gaining insight into everyday life over yerba mate tea with your hosts.
See the roaring Iguazu Falls from both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides, maybe opting for a scenic helicopter ride or an exhilarating Zodiac tour to get closer.
Kick back on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, visit a traditional farmers’ market and take in the views of Brazil’s coastal icon from Sugarloaf Mountain.
Is this trip right for you?
There are several orientation walks and city tours during this trip, so there will be quite a lot of walking. It’s important to always bring plenty of water, wear comfortable walking shoes and ensure you use adequate sun protection. Wearing layers is a good way to tackle the heat.
Itinerary
Travel from the tango-filled streets of Buenos Aires to the beaches of Rio
Get a taste of South America on a 10-day journey from Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro. Wander through artistic neighbourhoods and markets in Argentina's capital, then travel through the sprawling Ibera Wetlands in search of capybaras, caimans and otters. Continue to Foz do Iguazu to meet the Indigenous Guarani community and check out the magnificent Iguazu Falls from both sides – and maybe take a boat ride to get close to the spray. Finish up in Brazil's famous beach city for cable car rides, caipirinhas and samba bars – all fuelled by steak, empanadas and the infectious energy of the locals.
