Trip Informations
Jump on board an exhilarating journey through South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Southern Africa is bursting with a diverse array of wildlife, culture and landscapes – all waiting to be explored. Travel through the ever-changing scenery and watch as green landscapes give way to harsh desert dunes and rocky mountain peaks. Soak in the panoramic views of the vibrant orange sand dunes of Sossusvlei, discover the vast expanse of the Makgadikgadi Pans and embark on thrilling game drives through Etosha National Park. Take to the water on mokoros, see the sheer force of Victoria Falls and spend two nights on a houseboat at the Okavango Delta Panhandle.
Why you’ll love this trip
Journey through Chobe National Park – home to many African wildlife, be sure to look for elephants, buffalo, giraffes and antelope along the way.
Take in the panoramic views of the vibrant orange sand dunes of Sossusvlei, set against a backdrop of azure sky from the summit of Dune 45.
Discover the vast expanse of the Makgadikgadi Pans – one of the world's largest salt flats. Watch the sunset over the baobab trees and look for meerkats as you enjoy dinner in the heart of the desert.
Explore the captivating wilderness of Etosha National Park and see an abundance of wildlife on two exhilarating 4WD game drives.
Spend two nights on a houseboat at the Okavango Delta Panhandle. As you cruise, listen to the melodies of the African wildlife as night falls.
Is this trip right for you?
This is an overland trip, meaning you’ll travel with a group in a purpose-built vehicle. While the trucks don’t have air conditioning, they do have sliding windows that let the breeze in and make it even easier to take photos of the local wildlife. The driving days can be long, but it’s as much about the journey as the destination. For more info on this style of travel, see our Africa overland page: https://www.tuuur.com/au/africa/overland . https://www.tuuur.com/au/africa/overland (https://www.tuuur.com/au/africa/overland)
Namibia summer (November to March) can be very hot and humid with maximum temperatures around 35°C and peaks of over 40°C in the desert.
This itinerary includes two nights on a houseboat at the Okavango Delta Panhandle. The cabins are very small and basic.
Not all accommodation will have air-conditioning. This is quite common across Africa, particularly in remote locations where lodges or camps operate on solar power or generators.
Botswana is a very seasonal destination. What you see and experience can differ quite dramatically depending on the time of year you visit. Please consider this before you choose your departure date. See the 'Climate and seasonal information' section of the Essential Trip Information for more details.
There will be many early starts, either to make use of the better safari time or to beat the morning traffic on long travel days.

We dont realise how privileged we are to visit a beautiful almost unspoilt part of south africa Returning to nature and its beauty listening to the peacefulness Seeing the smile on the children faces and the hospitality provided by their elders It's easily forgotten when we return to our busy lives whether retired or working But the memories will be etched in our brain forever or if need of reminding we have the photos to back it up The okavango delta panhandle boathouse, Mokoro canoe trip and nature walk , village tour and sighting of the hippos crocodiles monkey etc if I had to pick one area of the holiday the Boathouse was special

South Africa/Namibia/Botswana/Zimbabwe- absolutely AWESOME trip. We enjoyed every second of it. The scenery in Namibia was amazing and the animals in Etosha NP and Chobe NP were fabulous. The accommodation, transport and included activities were wonderful. We went in early July and had the best time. Highly recommend!!

Such an amazing trip - 22 days, 4 countries, ~4800 kms, so many priceless memories. The scenery which changed in each country and within each country. The animals who are the stars of the show. The people you meet along the way. The experiences you have. We will definitely be coming back to Africa.
