Trip Informations
Spend 25 days diving into the history, art and culture of Europe, all while making new friends and rubbing shoulders with the locals. Get active with a hike along the scenic Los Cahorros trail near Granada and opt to go kayaking on the Algarve Coast or surfing in San Sebastian. Soak up renowned art and eclectic local culture with plenty of museums and galleries to explore in Barcelona and Berlin and a guided street art tour in Madrid. Feast your senses on waffles in Belgium, pintxos in Logrono, acclaimed wine in Bordeaux and classic French cuisine during dinner at a social enterprise in Paris. Epic views, heaps of free time and a local leader with all the best tips – this is an adventure to remember!
Why you’ll love this trip
See the incredible views from the Ponta da Piedade trail in Lagos – this stretch of endless coastline offers beautiful natural scenery of rock caves, grottoes and crystal-clear waters.
Sip world-class wine during a winery visit and tasting in Bordeaux. Learn about the production process, see the picturesque vineyards and step into the cellars.
Wander the colourful streets of the multicultural Lavapies neighbourhood in Madrid during a street art tour with a local guide and graffiti enthusiast. This company supports sustainable tourism and promotes social projects within the local community.
Feast on delicious food in countries known for their cuisine, with a tapas tasting of local favourites in Seville, a local cafe visit in Berlin and a churros sampling in Madrid (don’t forget to eat countless pasteis de natas during your time in Lisbon!).
Take advantage of heaps of free time and get the inside scoop on all the best spots from your local leader, then choose your own adventure.
Is this trip right for you?
It’s bunking season! As accommodation on this trip is multi-share, solo travellers will share a room with other travellers of the same gender. This is an excellent opportunity to get to know other like-minded people. Travellers on the same booking may be split between rooms due to the single-gender dormitories.
This trip is designed for travellers who value their independence but also want the benefit of a local leader and a group to share the experience with. The itinerary has plenty of free time where your leader will suggest optional activities. Please budget spending money for these activities and transport to and from them.
The best way to experience a city is by doing as the locals do – that means using public transport such as trams, trains, buses and metro at some locations. This will give you an authentic look at daily life, but be aware you may find yourself sharing a busy bus ride with local commuters. The trains used on this trip are comfortable and all have toilets, but these can also be very busy.
We recommend packing light for this trip as you'll be required to carry your own luggage between train stations, buses and hotels, which can include going up and down multiple flights of stairs and across cobblestones. A travel towel can come in handy when staying in European hostels. Refer to the Packing section of the Essential Trip Information for more details.
Summer temperatures can be very high in many of the regions visited (over 40°C), which can be uncomfortable. It’s important to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat and drink plenty of water. Please keep in mind that many European hotel rooms are not equipped with air conditioning. In winter, warm, waterproof layers will be needed as snow and rain can be expected. Carefully consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability to that season.
This trip can be part of a longer itinerary if you have more time to explore. You might like to check out 18 to 35s Essential Europe (ZMYYC) or 18 to 35s Epic Europe Adventure (ZMYPC).
