Trip Informations
Discover one of the jewels of the Middle East with a week in Jordan – home to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Kick off your adventure in Amman, where you can find hidden bars and delicious falafel, then head to Wadi Rum to hike and explore the land in a 4WD. Witness the awe-inspiring site of Petra and soak away your worries in the Dead Sea. Head back to Amman’s satellite city of Madaba to end your journey among beautiful mosaics. With an expert local leader, you can dive straight into the history, culture and delicious food that this region is known for.
Why you’ll love this trip
Explore Petra’s Treasury – one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Your pass to this sacred site lasts two full days so that you can explore every nook and cranny at your own pace.
See the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea, and float in its famously salty waters. Soak up its healing minerals and lather yourself in the rejuvenating mud.
Spend two nights sleeping under the stars at a Bedouin-style camp in Wadi Rum, accompanied by a dinner of traditional cuisine, plenty of mint tea and the desert night sky.
Take a guided walk around Amman to learn about the city’s diverse history, stake out where to get the best falafel and hummus and hear stories from the local growing hip-hop community.
Hop aboard a jeep for a 4WD tour across the valley in Wadi Rum, featuring giant sand dunes, historic houses and a few familiar filming locations.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip is designed for travellers who value their independence but also want the benefit of a local leader and a group to share the experience with. The itinerary has plenty of free time where your leader will suggest optional activities. Please budget spending money for these activities and transport to and from them.
It’s not all hot desert days in Jordan, as the winter months (December to February) can be quite cold. Temperatures in northern parts of the country can drop to freezing overnight. Snowfall around these areas, as well as Amman, is common. Pack smart to prepare you for varying temperatures if travelling during these months.
There is quite a bit of walking involved in visiting Jordan's historic sites, especially in Petra and Wadi Rum, so a reasonable level of fitness is required. Most of the time there is no shade, so remember to bring a hat, sun protection and sturdy, comfortable walking shoes.
This trip is part of a longer itinerary. You might be joining travellers who have already spent some time together. If you have more time to explore, you might like to check out 18 to 35s Real Egypt & Jordan (XEYJC).
