Trip Informations
Take a three-week adventure and make new friends that will last a lifetime, in two countries that will touch your heart. On this 21-day trip through Nepal and India, eat your weight in delicious street food, tick one of the Seven Wonders of the World (the Taj Mahal of course) off your bucket list and cruise down the holy Ganges. Hang in Buddha’s hometown, search for sloth bears and rhinos at Chitwan National Park, stay with local families and dive into colourful Kathmandu. Pull on your adventure boots for whitewater rafting on the Trisuli River, then trek in the Annapurna region. End it all back in Nepal’s capital, where you can choose to take a yoga class, go sightseeing or maybe extend your adventure and Zen out at your own pace!
Why you’ll love this trip
Get wet and wild on a whitewater rafting adventure on the Trisuli River (the most popular river in Nepal for rafting), where you’ll zoom downstream next to giant boulders and gorges and between bright green hills.
See the Taj Mahal – one of the famed Seven Wonders of the World. This may be one of the most recognisable buildings on Earth, but do you know its poetic history? Don’t worry, a local expert will fill you in.
Stretch your legs on a three-night, low-altitude trek through rural villages and rhododendron forests, taking in some pretty amazing sights of the Annapurna Ranges.
Fall asleep to the calls of the jungle in Chitwan National Park, then embark on a safari in search of rhinos, deer, monkeys, tigers and a wide array of bird life.
Ditch your alarm in the spiritual capital of Varanasi – there’s only one way to wake up here and that’s with a sunrise sail along the Ganges. Maybe indulge in some yoga or meditation after and keep the good vibes going.
Is this trip right for you?
To see as much as possible of this vast country, this trip involves some early starts and very long bus and train journeys, including a 13-hour overnight train from Agra to Varanasi.
Sleeper trains are a quintessential Indian travel experience. They’re a great way to travel long distances and maximise your time in each place. You’ll be travelling alongside locals, as well as Tuuur travellers, in a compartment of mixed genders. You’ll find more details about the experience in the Accommodation section of the Essential Trip Information, or you can read more about it here: https://www.tuuur.com/adventures/india-trains-guide/ https://www.tuuur.com/adventures/india-trains-guide/ (https://www.tuuur.com/adventures/india-trains-guide/)
Weather in India and Nepal can be very hot in summer and surprisingly cold in winter, so please pack accordingly so you aren't caught out! Check seasonal weather guides and pick a travel time that suits your comfort level.
Outside of the main towns, Nepal can be a quiet place, with few tourist attractions and options for organised activities or meal choices. There is plenty of time for your own exploration or relaxation. Don't expect each day to be action-packed, but be ready to seek out your own, more simple cultural experiences.
Please review the Transport section of the Essential Trip Information for details about plane travel in Nepal, associated risks and the safety measures we have in place.
